Welcome to the religion and politics biography page
for our esteemed pastor, Reverend A. Carl Prince, M.Div.,
a second generation, licensed and ordained Baptist
Pastor.
Pastor Prince is the youngest son of the late
Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Walter R. Prince Sr. of
Richmond, Virginia and is married to the former
Princess M. Whitley.
Having been reared in a Christian home, specifically
a strong Baptist denominational family, at eight
years of age, Rev. Prince was converted to Christ
and baptized under the administration of his father.
Academic Matriculation
Pastor Prince is a graduate of the Samuel DeWitt
Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union
University in Richmond, Virginia where he received
his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree.
An international theological thinker, Pastor Prince
is University of Oxford educated. At the prestigious
University of Oxford in England, he has sat at
the feet of some of the world's foremost scholars in
religion and politics. His post-graduate theological
itinerary includes the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.),
and Doctor of Philosophy, (D.Phil.) in Theology.
Mount Hope Baptist Church
Located in beautiful Prince George’s County, Pastor
Prince is honored to serve as the twelfth pastor of
Mount Hope Baptist since it's 1878 inception.
Since his election, Pastor Prince has created a vibrant
spiritual and socially conscious ministry with
outstanding praise and worship, dynamic teaching,
powerful preaching and a multilevel staff.
Among others, Pastor Prince has added a Church
Administrator, Director of Music Ministries, Pastor
of Christian Education and Pastor of Congregational
Care to effectively structure the church for
21st century spiritual growth and development.
Pastor Prince's church administration affirms a
unisex and intergenerational ministry model that is
illustrated by equal access and opportunity for all
regardless of color, class, age or gender.
Through his visionary leadership, Pastor Prince has
cast a holistic vision for 21st century ministries that
is spiritually based and socially relevant.
Pastor Prince is a reader and published writer.
His essay on Preaching and the Distinctive of
Black Preaching can be found online. His sermon on
the historic significance of the 44th US Presidential
Inauguration of Barack Hussein Obama can be found
in the US Library of Congress.
History Making Civil Servant
Among history makers, Pastor Prince is a history
maker in Virginia. He is the first African American
Baptist Minister to serve on the Richmond City
Council in Richmond, Virginia.
While on City Council, Pastor Prince distinguished
himself as an articulate and indefatigable advocate
for his 22,000 plus corporate and community constituencies.
He served on numerous local and regional boards and commissions
and traveled extensively representing the multifaceted
interests of the City of Richmond and Richmond region.
International Travel
In addition to his international exposure at Oxford, Pastor
Prince has traveled to London, England and the South of France
to be culturally immersed in faith-based studies.
